Probably this is not the first time, you have been searching on the internet, looking for violin lessons. Most likely, you found hundreds of offers for private lessons both onsite and online. But every time you were just about to hit the button and book a lesson, decided not to do it.

You were full of questions that made you hesitate, and hinder you to give yourself a chance to start to live your dreams and play music.

Below I answer the most common questions I have come across during the years I have been teaching. At the bottom of the list, you will find the most important questions you will need to ask yourself before you start learning music.

Let´s see, what questions are bothering you:

Can I start learning to play the violin at 30 / 40 / 50? Am I not too old start to learn an instrument?

Well, it depends on what your goal is? Everybody is able to reach a certain instrument at a certain level. It´s all just a matter of time and energy you are ready or able to invest.

Once you have started you must know, that you should practice and take lessons regularly.

What age should I start taking music lessons?

Here I have only one piece of advice: As early as possible!

Is my child old enough to start learning music?

Zoltán Kodály, the great Hungarian musician, educator, composer and piano player said: ” The music education should be started 9 months before birth.”

From the aspect of Psychology, the best time to start learning music is anytime before your child is turning 9.

Of course, it doesn´t mean, that someone, who is 10, 15, 20, or even older, would not be able to learn to play an instrument and become a great musician. It simply means, as the earlier you start as more time you will have to improve your technique and musicianship.

Should I book online music lessons for my child? Would online music tutoring work?

I would recommend taking online music lessons after the age of 8. For children, I recommend live 1-on-1 online lessons rather than pre-recorded online courses.

Is it possible to learn the violin online? Does it work?

Yes, it is absolutely possible and it works perfectly.

If you choose the lessons or courses with Music Edu Oline, you will be guided step-by-step through the different stages of learning to play the violin.

Both the 1-o-1 online violin lessons and the online courses will give you the feeling, that you are taking part in an individual private lesson tailored to your needs and interest.

Which instrument is the easiest to learn?

I am sorry to disappoint you, but there is no easy instrument to learn. To master an instrument requires persistence, diligence, regularity, time, patience, etc.

The instruments are different and so they have their advantages and disadvantages. For instance:

If you choose the piano you have the advantage of perfect pitch- If you hit a key- let´s say A- It will be A what you will hear. It makes everything more difficult, that you must use both of your hands at the same time, you must be able to read in different clefs at the same time, and after a certain level, you will need to use your feet as well for pedalling if you would like to play smoothly.

On the stringed instruments or on a trumpet you will use only one hand to hit the pitch, but there is no guarantee you will hit the right note straight away because there are other factors you must know and think about before you will reach the correct pitch. But the advantage of these instruments, that you will need to read the music only in one clef, you can take your instrument with you, so you can practice anywhere and in an orchestra, for example, there are usually more violinists or trumpet players who are required, then piano players.

We could continue the list of questions, but the most important questions you need to ask are:

Am I ready to practice, invest time, money and energy?

Will I have enough patience?

If your answer to these two questions is “Yes”, then you are ready to start and book your first lessons or online courses here.
